Developing the cooperation between Finland and Russia in the transportation sector Patria and the St. Petersburg University of Civil Aviation are successfully deploying a joint project which aims at integrating the elementary training programmes of Russian civil aviation pilots into the international training system. The goal of the project is to guarantee high level flight safety by developing the vocational skills of the students.

In mid June 2009 a first student group from the St. Petersburg University of Civil Aviation arrived to Finland to participate in this project.

“Our firm goal is to develop this partnership further in the long term”, states Mr Mihail Smurov, Chancellor of the St. Petersburg University of Civil Aviation.

St. Petersburg University of Civil Aviation

St. Petersburg University of Civil Aviation is one of the Aviation specialized Universities in Russia. Over 6 000 students are enrolled in eleven different degree programs and in nine different post-graduate degree programs.

St. Petersburg University of Civil Aviation offers university level instruction in international air transportation, aviation management, air traffic management, human behaviour, engineering studies and management training among other things.

 

Patria Pilot Training

Patria is a defence and aerospace group with international operations delivering its customers competitive solutions based on own specialist know-how and partnerships. Patria is owned by the State of Finland and the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company EADS N.V.

Patria Training provides elementary and advanced professional pilot training for civil aviation pilots and the main product of the school is professional pilot training.

In the military pilot training, Patria has reached excellent results in the elementary pilot training under contract for the Finnish Air Force (phase I - II training for conscripts, cadets and flight instructors).

In the area of advanced military jet pilot training, Patria is giving Hawk simulator training in the Kauhava air base. Together with the Finnish Air Force and the Ministry of Defence, Patria is developing Kauhava air base to become an advanced international military jet pilot training centre (phase III – IV training). The centre will be open to international customers with ample air space for tactical training and access to the training methods with proven track record.
