Patria has Europe’s most advanced training fleet ATPL(A) training with our new Tecnam P2002 JF basic aircraft Patria Pilot Training, an organisation providing integrated ATPL(A) training, has the most advanced training fleet in Europe. The flight school operates in Malmi, Helsinki.

Its fleet currently comprises nine brand new Tecnam P2002 JP aircraft for basic training, and three Cirrus SR22 aircraft for instrument flight training purchased a year ago. The Tecnam aircraft will replace the seven AS202 Bravo aircraft previously used. Registered as OH-TPA, the first aircraft arrived by road from Tecnam’s Capua facility in southern Italy, with its wings detached. The remaining eight were flown to Finland by Patria Pilot Training’s flight instructors in May.

“The instructors are delighted with the Tecnam. This aircraft comes with modern avionics based on the Garmin 500 display. It will provide trainees with a smooth transition from initial to instrument flight training, which will be carried out on the Cirrus SR22. This will be followed up by further training centred on the Cirrus Perspective avionics,” states Mikko Paronen, Accountable Manager of Patria Pilot Training.

With regard to operating costs and engine technology, the new Tecnam is fully in line with modern civil aviation trends. It is environmentally friendly, featuring a low noise level and minimum fuel consumption. Located in the Patria building at Helsinki-Malmi airport and owned by Patria Pilot Training, the new PART 145 repair shop will be responsible for the maintenance and overhaul of the new aircraft. Commercial pilots in two years Trainees graduate from the Patria Pilot Training civil aviation training programme approximately two years after beginning with the basics of aviation. As a result, they gain the pan-European commercial pilot licence (CPL-ME-IR). Training also includes modules covering airline transport pilot studies (Frozen ATPL) and multi crew cooperation studies (MCC).

The next civil aviation training programme, for which tuition fees are payable, will begin in the autumn of 2011. Enrolment requirements include being in normal health, education up to high school level (baccalaureate or the equivalent) and, for men, completed military service. Applicants meeting these prerequisites are invited to entrance exams, which mainly consist of aptitude tests.

Start dates for the modules, application instructions and other similar information are available at www.patria.fi and www.pilottrainingmalmi.fi.
