Transparency International UK has published the Defence Companies Anti-Corruption Index 2015 study, in which Patria was ranked in category C, the third-highest category. The companies were evaluated on a scale of A–F, with A being the best, based on public information. Separately submitted internal materials increased Patria's ranking to category B.

On the basis of public information, 2.5% of studied companies were placed in the best A category, 14.1% ranked in category B and 17.8% in category C. With internal information taken into account, 10.4% of companies ranked in category A, 15.3% in category B and 5.5% in category C.

”We are pleased with the results, since we have been systematically developing the various sectors of Patria's corporate social responsibility since 2000. Our principal focus has been on highlighting the importance of ethical operating methods and anti-bribery measures. Our entire personnel now participates in online training each year, and we have also promoted ethical operation in our subcontracting chain. CSR is a broad field that requires continuous development on all sectors. Our operating environment is constantly changing, which requires active CSR development work on our part. We are on the right path as a responsible operator in the defence sector,” says Patria's CEO Heikki Allonen.

Study included 163 companies from 47 countries

The study carried out by Transparency International UK reviewed the anti-corruption measures taken by 163 defence sector companies in 47 different countries. Transparency seeks to make companies see the risks related to corruption and review their own operations in order to prevent such risks. The survey was conducted to promote these goals.

The results of the study consist of two rankings. The first is based on public information available on the companies, such as web sites, annual reports and other reports published by the companies. In this category, Patria climbed three steps from the study conducted in 2012, and was ranked in category C. The second ranking is based on internal information voluntarily submitted to Transparency by the companies, including material such as process descriptions, internal guidelines and other reports and operating method descriptions. In this evaluation, Patria was placed in category B, which means that the company shows good evidence on its ethics and anti-corruption programmes.

Patria was not evaluated on the basis of internal information in the previous study. Transparency published the results of the first study in 2012, when Patria was in the process of drawing up its CSR report in accordance with state ownership steering guidelines. The report was not taken into account in the evaluation of public materials.
