The Finnish Defence Forces and Patria have signed a strategic partnership agreement for the life cycle support of military aircraft and related systems.

The agreement defines procedures and conditions of decades of cooperation as well as strengthens the strategic cooperation that the parties have agreed to maintain under all circumstances. The agreement covers the life cycle support of the Finnish Defence Forces’ military aircraft such as the F/A-18 Hornet fighters and the NH90 transport helicopters as well as related systems and services.

Maintaining the mission capability and performance of the aircraft and systems requires cooperation between the Defence Forces and industry. Cooperation between the Finnish Air Force and Patria has created a support concept which is more cost efficient than if it would rely on the Original Equipment Manufacturers or System Suppliers alone. This agreement clarifies the roles of both parties and enables close cooperation in connection with both current equipment as well as in future programs. This frame agreement is in accordance with the guidelines of strategic partnership as defined by the Ministry of Defense and applicable legislation.

The agreement covers significant part of the activities performed in Patria’s facilities in Jämsä, Tikkakoski, Tampere, Linnavuori, Pirkkala and Utti.
